Anorectal Manometry

Anorectal Motility: Manometry with Arhan Catheter

C54U

Arhan catheter for 4-channel anorectal manometry

This catheter is intended to record anorectal motility at three levels: the rectal ampulla, the upper part of the anal sphincter where mainly the movements of the internal sphincter are captured, and the lower part of the anal canal where mainly the movements of the superficial bundle of the external sphincter are captured.

Developed by our teams in collaboration with Necker Hospital and Professor Arhan, this catheter is fitted with a distension balloon and records pressures at the level of the anal sphincters using two annular balloons. A perfused channel is used to measure rectal pressure.

Available in 3 models:

C54AU: Adult

C54EU: Child

C54NU: Infant

L 90 cm

C54AU & C54EU models: Ø: 6.6 mm (20 ch)
C54NU model: Ø: 5 mm (15 ch)

C57U

Filling needle for Arhan catheter

This needle is used before the examination to reach the end of an Arhan anorectal manometry catheter, in order to fill the annular balloons with water while avoiding the formation of air bubbles. Water is injected using a 20 to 30 ml syringe.

Needle consisting of a metal tube and a flexible PVC tube.

Ø: 0.8 mm

PVC tube length 1 m

Anorectal Motility: Standard Manometry

C66U

Graduated 5-channel anorectal manometry catheter

This catheter is intended to record anal motility by perfusion of sterile water. It is fitted with a distension balloon (maximum injected volume: 200 ml) and records pressures via 4 perfused ports spaced 1.5, 5, 6 and 7 cm from the distal end of the catheter.

L 120 cm

Ø: 6.6 mm (20 ch)

C69U

Graduated 4-channel perfused paediatric anorectal manometry catheter

This particularly flexible catheter was designed to adapt to the child’s anatomy. It is fitted with a distension balloon (maximum injected volume: 100 ml) and records pressures via 3 perfused ports spaced 1, 2.5 and 3 cm from the distal end.

L 100 cm

Ø: 5 mm (15 ch)

C91AU

Graduated 7-channel adult anorectal manometry catheter

This catheter records anal motility by perfusion of sterile water. It is graduated every centimetre over approximately 15 cm from the distal end. The central channel opens into the distension balloon, which is inflated with air using a syringe (maximum injected volume: 500 ml). The other 6 channels open above the balloon at 1.5, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 cm from the distal end of the catheter.

Ø: 5 mm (15 ch)

Motility and Rectal Compliance

C55U

2-channel rectal compliance catheter

This catheter is intended to study the mechanical properties of the rectum, and more specifically its greater or lesser ability to adapt to distension (compliance). It can be used in all investigation techniques such as determining the elasticity coefficient of the rectal wall, a rectometrogram, or determining the full set of viscoelastic coefficients of the rectum.

It is fitted with 2 tubes that open into the distension balloon. They allow the rectal balloon to be inflated and also enable measurement of the pressure exerted by the rectum on the balloon.

Ø: 6.6 mm (20 CH)

Maximum inflation volume = 500 ml

C56U

Graduated 5-channel catheter for anorectal manometry and compliance

This catheter is intended, on the one hand, to record anal motility by perfusion and, on the other hand, to measure rectal compliance. The balloon allows the rectum to be distended and compliance to be measured. Three ports located above the balloon are used to record rectal and sphincter pressures: rectal pressure is measured via a port located 1.5 cm above the balloon, and sphincter pressure via two ports located 6 cm and 7 cm above the balloon. The ports can be identified on X-ray using radiopaque markers.

C74U

5-channel catheter for anorectal manometry and compliance

This catheter is intended to perform, during the same examination, standard anorectal manometry and compliance measurement. Two channels open into the balloon, allowing it to be inflated and enabling measurement of the pressure exerted by the rectum on the balloon. Three perfused ports spaced 4, 9 and 10 cm from the distal end of the catheter allow recording of rectal and anal pressure.
